On Oldemar and Ersi’s farm, which is just inside Finca La Bella’s upper gate, you will have the opportunity to see a one-family,“bean to beverage” operation. Oldemar grows, picks, dries, roasts and packages his own coffee. He has a true entrepreneurial spirit and has created his own unique brand: “La Bella Tica.” Oldemar also supports other local entrepreneurs by packaging his coffee in bags made of recycled paper, hand-crafted by the women of the Ecobambú Artesans’ Association, also located in San Luis. In addition to his coffee roasting operation, Oldemar shares his vast knowledge of planting secrets: which shade trees provide nutrients; how to correctly prune coffee plants for highest production; and how to maintain rich, fertile soil on the steep slopes of Finca La Bella. or a bag of fresh coffee beans, a stop by Oldemar and Ersi’s is a must.
