Álvaro, Elizabeth and their family have been farming at Finca La Bella since 2001. Alvaro grows coffee that he sells to the Co-Op Santa Elena, a fair-trade coffee cooperative that sells under the brand Café Monteverde. In addition to the organically grown coffee, and also produces beans, bananas, and other fruits and vegetables. In addition, Alvaro grows and mills sugar cane using a century-old trapiche and is always happy to let visitors grind the cane and taste of their labors. Eliza makes and sells a variety of crafts, including intricately embroidered handkerchiefs and tote bags, and her homemade jam is not to be missed. One unique feature of this farm is the breathtaking view of the Gulf of Nicoya, which you must see for yourself.
